The Top Questions for the Voyager Legend:

How is the Voyager Legend and Edge different?

The Voyager Legend uses Bluetooth 3.0, a magnetic charger and doesn’t have NFC pairing. The Voyager Edge on the other hand uses Bluetooth 4.0, a micro-USB charger and includes NFC pairing. As Bluetooth is backwards compatible and most devices are a breeze to connect these differences don’t make a massive difference. The major question here is whether the $30 difference (the Legend being cheaper) is worth it just to avoid the frustrating magnetic charger.

What are the differences between the Legend and Legend UC?

The Legend UC is $70 more expensive. For that extra cost you get to use the device across multiple devices simultaneously including PC. Like with the Voyager Edge and Edge UC you can easily connect the Legend Bluetooth headset to a Bluetooth dongle on a PC. A dongle can be purchased for as little as $10. The UC version offers more user control features but unless you have multiple calls from multiple sources simultaneously this extra expense might not be worth your time.

Does the Plantronics Voyager Legend have called ID?

Yes it does. Initially it will ask you for permission to access your address book, it will then be able to identify the calls by name when they come in.

Does this use a magnetic stand or direct cable?

The Voyager Legend uses a propriety magnetic charging stand which in our experience is more miss than hit. Additionally the cable from wall to stand is incredibly short so don’t expect much convenience when it comes to positioning the charger unless you buy extensions.

Is this Plantronics Bluetooth Headset on sale at Amazon.com?

Right now you can buy the Voyager Legend on Amazon.

Is this headset comfortable with glasses?

Yes. It’s bigger and bulkier than the Voyager Edge but its no less comfortable with glasses. Obviously my own experience is based on the glasses I wear, which use thin frames. While wearing thicker framed glasses there could be some discomfort but we doubt it because it’s universally considered one of the most comfortable headsets available.

Can I use S-Voice or Google’s Voice to dictate text, memos, set calendars and alarms?

We can confirm that the headset can be used with S-Voice and Google Voice without issue. The headset can also be used to do voice commands like “Call” followed by a persons name or to set alarms and reminders. Yet these functions are specifically done by activating Siri or Google Now via the Voyager Legend action button.

How hard is it to talk to text?

It’s very easy. Just hold down the action button on the Voyager Legend, or double press to trigger Siri on the iPhone or Google Now on Android. Once this is activated via the Bluetooth headset on your smartphone you can dictate a text message to send via voice commands.

Can you connect multiple smartphones and devices?

Of course. I have a Samsung Galaxy Edge, Huawei Smartwatch, my PS4 and an iPad connected. These don’t all work simultaneously, my smartphone and smartwatch work together but if I was using the PS4 or iPad I’d need to disconnect the others otherwise charge rapidly depletes and the phone functionality overrides everything else.

What is the Bluetooth range between smartphone and headset?

The suggested range is up to 30ft however the quality whether at 10ft or further is dependant on your location. Some structures and items could interfere with the signal making it weaker across distances. If you are moving in and out of range the headset will give a prompt “phone connected” or “phone disconnected” voice alert. The headset will automatically reconnect when moving back into range without any interaction.

If I accept a call on my smartphone while wearing a headset can I switch?

If you answer on your smartphone you’ll need to talk on your smartphone. However we were able to switch by pressing the call button while the headset was in our ear.  We also tried equipping the headset and pressing the call button but was unable to switch with this method. It seems like the headset needs to register the call beforehand. Normally to answer a call while wearing a Bluetooth headset you just tap the call button or say “answer” while it is equipped and in your ear.

Can you purchase new ear bud pad?

Yes, Amazon has them available for $4.95 as of this writing. Try a search for “Earbuds for Plantronics Voyager Legend.”

How do you know when it’s charging or not?

When the headset is charging Blue LED lights blink to show that the magnetic charger is working. To know how much charge the headset has while wearing it you can press the operation button and it will tell you how much charge it has left. When it’s fully charged there is about 7 hours of talk time available. To fully charge it takes around an hour but make sure you see the LED lights flash otherwise the magnetic charger might not be connected right.
